International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries across the world to recognize women and their achievements.

The United Nations theme is- “Think Equal, Be Smart, Innovate for Change”, this year. This puts innovation by women and girls, for women and girls at the heart of the movement to achieve gender equality. The UN has some cool stories of what some women are doing to create lasting change.

So what can YOU do this year to make a difference? Well, talk and discuss. Bring attention to various problems and talk about how wrong they are and how you, on an individual or group level, can make a change. For instance- talk about gender based violence, wage differencesand how race, ability, colonization play into large wage differences, and come to local events on campus and in the community.
