Radical Disability Politics
Hosted by: Guelph Resource Center for Gender Empowerment & Diversity (GRCGED)
Disabled people are an important part of every community but noticeably absent in most aspects of community organizing. Not only do activist struggles fail to take up disabled politics as issues, but we often fail to make such organizing accessible. A true commitment to self-determination and social justices requires us to develop a radical disability politic and work in solidarity with disabled people.
This workshop will introduce people to radical disability politics, how disability is used in our society to maintain and perpetuate oppression and how to work towards making the organizing work we do inclusive and accessible.
Why Feminism??

This workshop will also go over some histories and advances of feminist movements, why there is a dire need for continuing to struggle against all forms of gendered oppression and why feminism is still relevant in today’s world. This workshop is geared towards volunteering with GRCGED or organizing within a feminist framework but is also open to people who would like to learn more about feminism.

Consensus Decision-Making and Facilitation
Hosted by: Guelph Resource Center for Gender Empowerment & Diversity (GRCGED)
Consensus is one of the ways by which we attempt to address inequities in our groups. It is a cooperative form of decision-making through which we strive for inclusion and diversity within the group and in the ideas presented. This workshop will cover some of the basic philosophy of consensus and some of the skills that are needed to keep hierarchies and oppressive behaviours out of our groups. It will also introduce some of the practices that can help facilitators encourage full participation in the decision-making process in order to ensure that true consensus is reached.
